General FAQs
Protein is essential to life and nourishes nearly all body systems. Research has shown that protein-rich diets hold benefits for weight management, appetite and blood sugar control making it one of the most important nutrients for ‘I want to age stronger and healthier’ wellness objectives. Consuming sufficient amounts of protein every day is important as proteins, unlike fats and carbs, aren’t stored in the body even though they are essential for everything from cellular regeneration to hair growth. You can read more about why proteins are important here.
Daily protein requirements vary from person to person depending on their age, gender, lifestyle and health conditions. However, below is a rough guide to calculate your minimum daily requirement*:
(a) Sedentary lifestyle - roughly 0.75g of protein for every kg of body weight
(b) Active lifestyle - roughly 1g of protein for every kg of body weight
(c) Very active lifestyle - roughly 1-1.5g of protein for every kg of body weight

Vegetarians and vegans aren’t the only populations interested in plant proteins. In fact, the most rapidly growing segment of the population consuming them are non-vegetarians who simply want to move away from animal proteins because of the long-term negative impact it has on their bodies and the planet. Plant proteins are growing in popularity as consumers seek quality nutrition choices with a greater focus on the importance of protein for holistic wellness, aging, and weight maintenance. In addition, segments of the population are concerned about sustainability—the environmental resources used and greenhouse gases produced by animal-derived products, both of which can be tremendously detrimental to our planet.

Yes very much. It is best to choose a variety of plant protein sources during the day and to look for supplement powders that combine varied sources to get all of the essential amino acids. For instance, brown rice protein (low in lysine) can be combined with pea protein (low in methionine) to make it a protein blend that is complete in all 9 essential amino acids. In addition, you can consume enough total protein to get at least 3g leucine per serving of protein to maximally stimulate muscle protein synthesis. It’s important to remember that you can eat as much protein as you want, but if you’re not doing resistance training, you won’t build muscle.
Most people preach that it’s very important to consume protein right after a workout. That is only partially true- unless you’re working out twice a day or are an advanced athlete, it’s unlikely that a few hours gap between exercise and protein intake will change things. Having said that, the benefits of refueling and tissue repair typically last only about 4 hours. That means it’s best for most people to space out their protein intake throughout the day.
Studies show that high-protein diets (including plant protein-rich diets and supplements) lead to weight loss, even without restricting calories or other nutrients. High-protein diets have been shown to help reduce body fat, especially around the belly as protein digestion requires more energy and thus burns more calories. There is some evidence that a slightly higher intake of protein (18% of daily calories compared to 15%) resulted in a 50% lower body weight regain. Plant protein is also extremely effective in building lean muscle mass.
These are the reasons why high-protein diets boost weight loss:
● Protein is highly satiating, meaning you stay fuller for longer
● A high-protein diet has been linked to reduced cravings
● Increased protein intake has been shown to boost the number of calories burned by up to 80 to 100% per day.
● Protein has been shown to reduce levels of the hunger hormone ghrelin and boost the appetite-reducing hormones GLP-1 and PYY.

Proteins are often rated based on “quality”, which is really based on digestibility and absorption into the body. The PDCAAS (protein digestibility corrected amino acid score) of single foods ranges from 0-1 with 1 being the highest. For plant protein, soy protein matches up to eggs and cow’s milk, while whole soy matches up to the score of beef.

While all our protein sources are plant based and are 100% safe in that they do not have any heavy metals or harmful taste enhancers or preservatives, protein supplements are unnecessary for children below 15 years of age because they’re getting more than enough protein through their meals. Moreover protein supplements are optimized for older people and may have excessive amounts of protein or calories, which can lead to the unintended side effects in children.
